On this trip to Matsuyama, I specifically looked for Goshiki, a long-established local cuisine restaurant with a great deal of history. Seeing that the restaurant has been around for three or four hundred years made me really curious about what local dishes passed down for so long would taste like, so I decided to give it a try!

This time, I went straight for the set meal with the widest variety of ingredients. It let me try specialties such as natural five-colored somen, sea bream sashimi, and sea bream rice all at once. The entire spread looked very generous when it arrived at the table.

The five-colored somen was colorful and visually appealing. The dipping noodles and noodles in broth each had a different flavor and offered a different experience. The sea bream sashimi and sea bream rice are also local dishes well worth trying in Ehime. Being able to sample so many specialties at once was truly satisfying.

Don’t rush off after your meal. There’s also a souvenir section on the first floor where you can pick up some local specialties to take home.

When traveling in Matsuyama, besides enjoying the scenery and visiting attractions, I also highly recommend planning a meal here to experience Ehime’s local cuisine, passed down for hundreds of years!
