Kushimoto Marine Park

This marine park was opened as Japan’s very first in 1970. 140m off the shore, the park’s symbol, the undersea tower stands in Kushimoto’s ocean. You can look down how girella swim around the feed and the beautiful corals stretch at the ocean floor 6.3m-deep.

At the bridge entrance to the undersea tower, there is an aquarium with about 5000 ocean lives of 500 species. The main exhibition is the recreation of the sea around Kushimoto that has the strong influence of Kuroshio Current. Watch the colorful tropical fish swim around. In the zone where they raise the sea turtles born in the facility, you can feed the turtles, which is rare in other aquariums.

The adjoining Kushimoto Diving Park is the main island’s popular diving spot, attracting divers from the region. An easy plan for beginners (Diving experience: 15000yen for middle schoolers and up, reservation until the day before a diving), Snorkeling, allowed for elementary children (7000yen, reservation until the day before) and other programs are planned to share the wonders of Kushimoto’s ocean at Latitude 35ﾟ north.
