Onaruto Bridge Whirlpool Walk

A tour overlooking some of the world’s largest whirlpools from an exclusive access route on Onaruto Bridge.

Onaruto Bridge Sightseeing Tour

Onaruto bridge stretches across the Naruto Straight that sits between the northeast tip of Shikoku, Minamiawaji in Hyogo Prefecture and Naruto in Tokushima Prefecture. Built as a road-rail bridge, it’s complete with road traffic on the upper deck and an exclusive staff-only path on the side. With the Onaruto Bridge Whirlpool Walk tour, guests are met with the rare chance to walk the access route unavailable to pedestrians while enjoying an exclusive look at the whirlpools from above.

The tour begins with check in at the seaside open area of Michi-no-eki Uzushio. There you’ll receive a helmet, gloves, and all-inclusive overview of the bridge using a real-to-size cable cross section model. With knowledge of the bridge construction and tour under your belt, its time to enter the backstage bridge track, unavailable to regular customers.
Onaruto Bridge stands a full 1,629 meters long, approximately 45 meters above the sea. On this tour you’ll enjoy a stroll across the bridge’s 1-meter wide special access route while hearing stories about how and when the bridge was first built. There will even be a bonus overview of the neighboring islands for you to take in while enjoying the sights along the way.

The highlight of this trip is the multiple whirlpools that come into view as you reach the bridge’s center! Peer below on natures treasures, a view below unlike any other.
