Shuri soba noodle

Homemade, handmade noodles and deep broth--excellent! Okinawa soba noodle restaurant near Shuri Castle.

Last update :

Located in a residential area a short walk from Shurijo Castle, this famous restaurant is popular among locals for its Okinawan soba noodles, with a long line of customers waiting in line before the restaurant opens.

The menu is quite simple, the main course of Shuri soba, and the side menu is Nitsuke(stewed meat and vegetables), Onigiri (rice balls), juicy (one Japanese seasoned rice), and Snow corn-Zenzai. The Shuri Soba, available in three sizes (large, medium, and small), features flat noodles with the firmness and chewy texture of handmade noodles. The soup, made with pork, dried bonito flakes, and Okinawan salt, is as clear and elegant as it looks. The toppings are also the standard: pork tripe and loin, fish paste, pickled ginger, and green onions.

Nitsuke, with the deep-fried Shima tofu, green beans, and daikon radish, all of which are soaked in broth, and "juicy" rice (one Japanese seasoned rice) cooked in a rich broth, is also a perfect accompaniment to Okinawan soba.

The restaurant, renovated from an old traditional Japanese house, has a counter, tables, and tatami rooms. You can enjoy your meal in a warm, homey atmosphere.
