Animate Akihabara

Animate Akihabara is a branch of "Animate," one of Japan’s largest specialty stores for everything anime, comics, and games. It opened in 1997 and has since continued as a beloved mecca in Akihabara for anime fans. As part of a planned renovation, this particular location reopened its No. 2 Building in December 2022, and has now launched the grand reopening of the No. 1 building next door as of April 2023.

The new 1st building consists of 8 floors from the basement to the 7th floor. The basement floor is dedicated to audio, visual, and game-related products, while the 1st to 6th floors offer a range of popular anime works and character goods. A variety of events, including autograph sessions and talk shows, are held in the event space on the 7th floor.

The No. 2 Building is primarily home to books, but inside you’ll also find the Animate Cafe Gratte Akihabara on the 2nd floor, and the Only Shop on the 6th and 7th floors.
