Dogo Onsen Station of the Iyo Railway city tram is the closest station to the famous "Dogo Onsen", believed to be Japan's oldest hot spring.
It is the terminal station for the "Botchan Ressha Train" that operates between Matsuyama City Station and Dogo Onsen Station. Visitors can witness the Botchan Ressha Train making a turn at the end of this station, a unique sight. The station building, restored from its original structure built in 1911 (Meiji 44), together with the steam locomotive "Botchan Ressha Train" which ran through the city from the Meiji to the Showa era, offer visitors a nostalgic experience of the hot spring town.
Around the station, one can find attractions such as the "Botchan Karakuri Clock", which plays music every hour (or every 30 minutes depending on the season) at the Hojoen garden, tourist information centers, and Dogo Shopping Street, the main street of Dogo Onsen. Additionally, the station building is illuminated at night, making it a recommended spot for evening strolls in Dogo Onsen.
