Osaka Science Museum
A museum where you can feel closer to science through hands-on experiences and shows.
A science museum in Nakanoshima, Osaka. Carrying on Japan’s first science museum, the Osaka Municipal Electric Science Museum, it offers science learning for everyone from kids to adults under the theme “Space and Energy.”
The planetarium is popular for programs with live commentary by specialized staff who are knowledgeable about astronomy. It features one of the world’s largest screens plus high-performance projectors and a video system, letting you enjoy a beautiful starry sky that looks incredibly close to the real thing. Across four floors and 3,000㎡ of exhibition space, there are Approx. 200 exhibits, including experimental devices and materials. Even if physics or chemistry isn’t your strong suit, these hands-on exhibits—made for seeing and touching—are known for making the science easy and fun to understand. Don’t miss the daily science show held on the 3rd-floor stage, either. With the punch of a live performance and plenty of suspense, it’s sure to keep your eyes on the stage.
In the August 2024 renewal, in addition to a full renovation of the exhibition area, a new cafe was also added. In an open atrium space with the first planetarium projector in Asia, you can enjoy meal items like Napolitan spaghetti and omurice, as well as original donuts themed around planets and aliens.
