Ganso Murasaki

A specialty kiritanpo restaurant serving more than 70 years of traditional flavor.

Supervised by :  Ganso Murasaki

Founded in 1944 as the kappo-style restaurant “Murasaki,” it was reborn in 1977 as “Ganso Murasaki,” a specialty restaurant for Akita’s local dish kiritanpo. Since then, it has been known as a long-established favorite that continues to serve the same traditional flavors for over 80 years, drawing fans from across Japan.

The signature kiritanpo hot pot is all about the soup and the tanpo. The house-made soup brings out the full flavor of Hinai jidori chicken. Made with Akita Komachi rice from Odate and carefully handcrafted one by one, the tanpo has a rich taste you won’t find elsewhere. It holds its shape well in the hot pot and easily absorbs the flavor of the soup. Hokushika sake is also available, making it easy to enjoy the meal with local sake.

Inside, there is an irori hearth and an atmosphere that reflects the charm of a historic restaurant. The space has around 30 counter and table seats, as well as a private room for up to 8 guests. Nearby attractions include Keijo Park and the Odate, Kosaka Railway Rail Bike, making it an easy stop before or after sightseeing.
