MARUZEN Tea Roastery is located on Gofukucho Street in Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture. This cafe specializes in Japanese tea. Opened in 2018 by Maruzen Seicha, a long-established tea wholesaler with over 70 years of history, it features an in-house tea roasting workshop where the finest first-flush tea leaves from Shizuoka Prefecture are roasted on the spot.

The signature menu item is Tea Gelato, which lets you enjoy the flavors of Shizuoka-grown tea. One of its standout features is that you can choose from five roasting temperature levels for the tea leaves, from 0°C to 200°C. You can experience the differences in aroma and flavor depending on the roasting temperature. The gelato comes in seven flavors: matcha, gyokuro, sencha, hojicha, genmaicha, Japanese black tea, and white cream tea. Hand-drip tea is also available, so you can enjoy tea together with gelato.

The cafe also serves desserts made with ingredients and tea leaves from Shizuoka Prefecture. Light meal sets with sea bream ochazuke or grilled rice balls and tea are also available. The first floor has counter seats and a shop, while the second floor offers a cafe space with Wi-Fi and power outlets. It’s an easy spot to stop by while sightseeing.
