Maruya Honten Osaka Umekita Green Place Branch

Maruya Honten, a famous hitsumabushi restaurant whose main location is in Nagoya, opened a new branch in March 2025. This first Kansai branch is located inside the Umekita Green Place commercial complex, and one reason for its popularity is its excellent location, directly connected to Osaka Station and just a 1-minute walk away.

For its signature dish hitsumabushi, a Nagoya specialty of unagi enjoyed in several ways, skilled chefs carefully grill the unagi. The contrast between the crisp skin and the light, fluffy interior is the hallmark of true craftsmanship. You can enjoy it in three ways: the first serving as it is, the second with condiments, and the third with dashi broth poured over for an ochazuke-style finish.

In addition to classic hitsumabushi and unadon, the restaurant also offers Osaka-only menu items such as the "Unagi Nobori" set, which lets you enjoy unagi in a variety of dishes, seasonal set meals, and unaju. There is also a full lineup of a la carte dishes like nagayaki (grilled unagi) and umaki (rolled omelet with unagi), as well as drinks including sake.

The bright interior, designed in a unified modern Japanese style, features mainly table seating along with a variety of other options, including counter and sofa seats. For business meals or occasions when you want to relax in a quieter setting, the box-style semi-private booths are recommended.
