The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge connects Honshu and Awaji Island. It is known as the world's longest suspension bridge, with a total length of 3,911 meters and a distance of 1,991 meters between the two main towers. Together with the Onaruto Bridge, it connects the Kansai area to Shikoku, and is a popular tourist route.

Maiko Park in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, serves as the gateway to the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge. The view from the Maiko Marine Promenade, a promenade in the middle of the bridge girder, which is about 47 meters high and 317 meters long, is a must-see. At the adjacent Bridge Science Museum, visitors can learn about the world's highest level of bridge construction technology used in the construction of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and other bridges connecting Honshu and Shikoku.

The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge is nicknamed the “Pearl Bridge”, and when lit up at night, it looks like a string of pearls. The bridge is lit up in 28 patterns of color combinations, and special lighting is sometimes used for special events.

If you sign up for the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge Tower Top Experience Tour in advance, you can enjoy panoramic viewing from the main tower, which is about 300 meters high. Please note that the event will not be held in 2021.
