I've always loved this classic mushroom-shaped snack from Meiji. The crispy cracker has an enticing aroma, and the rich chocolate mushroom cap on top pairs with it in just the right proportion. It's sweet without being too rich.

It also brings to mind Takenoko no Sato, another similarly shaped snack from Meiji. Although they look somewhat alike, their overall textures and flavors are actually quite different. I've heard that in Japan, both camps have their own loyal supporters, and mentioning them always sparks an interesting debate.

As for me, I'm on the Kinoko no Yama side, probably because I like the texture of the crispy cracker stem. This classic snack is both cute and delicious, and whenever I see it at a supermarket in Japan, I can't help picking up a few boxes. It's perfect as an afternoon snack or whenever I'm craving something to munch on.
