Kudanzaka Park

Kudanzaka Park

An urban park just steps from Kudanshita Station, also known as a cherry blossom spot.

Last update :

A narrow urban park in Chiyoda City, Tokyo, facing the Chidorigafuchi side of Yasukuni-dori Avenue. Opened in 1965 on the former Ministry of Finance site, its refined design won the Excellence Award at the Japan Society of Civil Engineers Design Award in 2021. Just steps from Kudanshita Station, it is a popular place for Tokyo residents to take a walk or relax.

Nearby are the Imperial Palace, the Science Museum, and The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, making it a convenient stop during a walk around the moat. Inside the park are spots where you can see the Jotomyo-dai and look out over the moat. Historic sites such as the statues of Shinagawa Yajiro and Oyama Iwao are also scattered around the area, making for an enjoyable walk with a sense of history.

It is also known as a cherry blossom spot, and in spring it becomes one of the venues for the Chiyoda Sakura Festival hosted by Chiyoda City. Because the cherry trees along the moat can be seen clearly from the park, it is a popular photo spot. During the blooming season, the cherry blossoms are illuminated, drawing large crowds until night.
