Lunch at Shikun Shisou Raika, a Shanghaiese Restuarant in Tokyo Midtown Hibiya

Last update :

Hibiya is a neighborhood in Tokyo known for its cinemas and theaters. In March of 2018, Tokyo Midtown Hibiya opened and I visited a Shanghaiese restaurant called Raika in this building. There are also Raika branches in Tokyo's Shinjuku Gyoen and Aoyama. All three locations are so popular that it's hard to get in without a reservation.

Tokyo Midtown Hibiya is a new landmark in town housing 60 unique shops and restaurants as well as the largest movie theater in Tokyo.

I had lunch at this Chinese restaurant, located on the third floor.
Seating options include counter seats, tables and private rooms.

Lunch sets full of variety start from ¥2200.
Lunch courses range from ¥4200 to ¥10,000.
There's also a vegetarian menu available.

Ordering a Lunch Set

I ordered a lunch set of beef sautéed with mixed vegetables and basil. For ¥2500 (including tax and service charges) this set came with rice, soup, an appetizer, salad and almond pudding.

There was crab in the soup.

The main dish of beef sautéed with mixed vegetables and basil looked pretty ordinary.
However, it was so delicious! The beef was full of umami flavor!
Beef and basil were the perfect match.

The almond pudding served after the meal was smooth and rich.

Following the meal, I was offered a pot of Chinese tea called "Ogonkei". It had a nice aroma.

Since I visited this restaurant on opening day, it was overwhelmed with diners so I couldn't take so much time with my meal. Despite this, their attentive service left me with a good impression of this famous restaurant. When the crowds thin out a bit, I'd like to come back and eat a lunch course.
