The whiskey distillery is known as the home of Japanese whiskey. The founder of Suntory, Shinjiro Torii, started construction in 1923, hoping to create a Japanese whiskey that would suit the delicate taste of the Japanese people. The distillery has been producing a wide variety of whiskeys in Yamazaki, where he sought clean water and a natural environment suitable for maturing whiskey.

In 2003," Yamazaki 12 Years Old", a single malt whiskey created at the Yamazaki Distillery, won the first gold medal for a Japanese whiskey at the ISC 2003, a global liquor competition. The skills and history nurtured in Yamazaki have been widely recognized as a world-class taste.

Admission to the "Yamazaki Whiskey Museum," located on the premises, is free with reservation. There is an exhibition where you can learn the story of the company's founding, the technology, and evolution of whiskey making, a store with original products, and a tasting counter where you can compare various whiskeys from around the world.

The 1,000 yen tour of the Yamazaki Distillery takes you through the actual whiskey production process. The tour is trendy because you can see the various types of whiskey that Suntory produces in each process. In addition, you can enjoy tasting the original whiskey only at the distillery, and you can enjoy the delicate and profound taste of the single malt whiskey "Yamazaki."
