Last update :

This state-of-the-art aquarium opened in June 2020 in Utazu, a city in Kagawa Prefecture at the foot of the Seto Ohashi Bridge, the gateway to Shikoku.

The aquarium is home to over 14,000 creatures in 400 different varieties, all of which can be seen at the immersive sea exhibits that recreate marine life from Seto Insland Sea, the Pacific Ocean, Shimanto River, and other seascapes from the Shikoku area.

Of the 70 different seascapes at the exhibit, the “View of Poseiden” tank is the largest in Shikoku, measuring at 11 meters wide by 5.5 meters tall. It’s designed to mimic the Kuroshio current that flows off Shikoku’s southern coast, including a special light display that reimagines the limitless expanse of the Pacific Ocean. The fish swim in a swirl out of the seemingly endless depths of the tank, making for an unforgettable view.

You’ll also find a chance to look up at the scalloped hammerhead shark at the “View of Kannazuki Tank” or the powerful swirl of the mighty whirlpool at the “View of the Uzushio” tank, just a few of the breathtaking exhibits to browse and explore.

Other popular programming includes dolphin shows at the Dolphin Infinity Pool set against the Seto Inland Sea, the penguin, sea lions and otter feeding times, or the special chance to feed the animals yourself (fee applies).
