Opened in July of 1996, “Kaikyo Yume Tower” is a 153m tall tower located on the Kanmon Straits. It is known as a landmark of Shimonoseki.
Aboard a transparent elevator, visitors are sent to a 143m tall observatory in just 70 seconds. The observatory is made of 3 layers of spherical glass, and offers a 360 panoramic grand view of the Kanmon straits, Setouchi Ocean, Ganryu-jima Island, Hibikinada Sea, and the Kyushu Islands at the opposite of the horizon. Visitors can come at any hour of the day and enjoy views that change according to the time of day, such as the sunset along the horizon.
Inside the tower is an AR Experience (Augmented reality). If visitors download a special app and use it in spaces and windows within the tower, visitors can see “Yume-tan”, the Kaikyo Yume Tower mascot character guide the tower. Experience the past and future of Shimonoseki.
The tower is designated as a “Lover’s Sanctuary”, and a popular location to go on a date.
The 28th floor has a shrine dedicated to love. At night, it is lit up in bright lights.
