Ponto-cho Robin

You can enjoy seasonal Kyoto cuisine in a space utilizing a 150-year-old Kyoto townhouse.

Last update :

Ponto-cho Robin is a Kyoto cuisine restaurant located deep in an alley of Ponto-cho, one of Kyoto's representative geisha districts. Using a 150-year-old Kyoto townhouse called "Takagi Fuku," they offer a menu full of seasonal ingredients in an atmospheric space. In addition to carefully sourcing ingredients from all over Japan, the chef visits the market every morning to hand-select items. The ever-changing menu depending on the ingredients procured daily is exciting.

In addition to seasonal course meals and hot pot dishes, they also offer a la carte dishes such as an assortment of sashimi using fresh fish and salt-grilled Wagyu beef using rare cuts. A recommended way to finish your meal is with the seasonal kamameshi (rice cooked in a pot). The kamameshi, which is cooked with Koshihikari rice sourced from contracted farmers and the restaurant's proud broth, along with seasonal ingredients in a specially ordered clay pot, is exquisite. They also have a rich selection of alcohol such as sake, champagne, and wine. You would want to ask for their recommended alcohol to pair with your meal and spend a blissful time.

They offer different types of seating options such as table seating with a view of the Kamo River and Higashiyama, a relaxing kotatsu-style seating while overlooking the inner garden, and a sophisticated private room using Tamba stone. Choose according to the scene. From late May to the end of October, you can also enjoy the seasonal event of Kyoto - Noryo Yuka (outdoor riverside dining).
