Tokyo Ajiwai Festa: TASTE of TOKYO
Discover the lesser-known flavors of the metropolis of Tokyo.
Tokyo may be best known as one of the world’s largest cities, but it is also home to a diverse range of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries that produce an abundance of fresh ingredients. Highlighting this lesser-known side of the city, this three-day food festival brings together seasonal foods produced in Tokyo for visitors to experience with all five senses. It is held every fall.
The festival takes place in Marunouchi, Yurakucho, Hibiya, and Toyosu—areas in central Tokyo known for their culture and sophisticated cityscapes. Vendors throughout the venues serve dishes made with ingredients produced in Tokyo, drawing visitors into a lively culinary experience. Restaurants near the venues also offer special menus for the event, providing many different ways to sample Tokyo ingredients.
The festival offers much more than food to sample on the go. It also features a wide range of hands-on activities that provide insight into Tokyo’s food, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. Visitors can explore Tokyo’s culinary culture at a market selling locally grown produce and regional specialties, as well as take part in workshops and activities that offer a closer look at the city’s agriculture, forestry, and fishing industries.
Spend time savoring flavors available only at this lively event set against a backdrop of skyscrapers. Discover Tokyo from a new culinary perspective while learning about the bounty of the land and the people who produce it.
