Last update :

Boasting a history of about 90 years since its inception in the early Showa era, the Asakusa Shin Nakamise Shopping Street crosses Asakusa from east to west, in contrast to the Nakamise Shopping Street that connects the Kaminarimon Gate to Asakusa Temple. It is the largest shopping street in Asakusa, with a total length of 380m, and is composed of five areas.

The shopping street, which crosses Nakamise Street, Central Street, Orange Street, etc., is lined with a diverse range of stores, including food and beverage stores, fashion, Asakusa specialties, and souvenirs, regardless of local customers or tourists. It's also a unique charm of this shopping street that long-established stores that have been in business since the Showa era and new stores that are a topic among young people coexist seamlessly. The entire shopping street is an arcade, so you can enjoy shopping without worrying about rain or the sun.

Every Friday around 3 pm, the shopping street's mascot, "Asakusa Shin Nyaka", a character with a furoshiki on its head, appears in the shopping street. You can see him interacting with shoppers.

There are also unique shopping street events, such as the "Thanksgiving Raffle" in February where you can win shopping vouchers and original goods, and the "Hozuki Street" in July where the 'Tobi head' (Kashira) dressed in happi and store owners perform a tightening ceremony to wish for prosperity in business.
