Imado Shrine

This ancient shrine of authentic lineage is known for bringing blessings in matchmaking because the deities worshipped here are 'Izanagi-no-Mikoto' and 'Izanami-no-Mikoto', considered the first couple in Japan. Since 2008, the shrine has regularly held 'matchmaking meetings', thus becoming more widely known as a shrine where you can pray for a good match. It attracts crowds not only on weekends but also on weekdays from those hoping for a successful relationship.

Numerous beckoning cat figurines adorn the precincts, warmly welcoming visitors. Particularly popular is the couple's beckoning cat located next to the main shrine. It is said to bring good luck when stroked and grant wishes when its photo is set as a phone's wallpaper, thus attracting much attention.

The shrine's votive picture tablets (ema) are also well-known for their unique round shape, a play on words between 'en' (relationship) and 'en' (circle), reflecting the shrine's focus on matchmaking. The shrine offers two types of ema: one for making wishes and another for when wishes have been granted, known as the 'wish fulfillment ema'. The 'love-winning fortune slip', which provides detailed information about a compatible partner's age and star sign, is popular for its perceived accuracy. Shrine items featuring the cat motif, like the stamp book and amulets, are also popular.
